Scenery Chewer presents Inky Fingers - Book appeal for Sri Lanka Wednesday 12th November 2008 The Mango Lounge - Earls court
Scenery Chewer organised a intimate benefit for a small rural school in Sri Lanka. The aim of the event was to collect as many books as possible that can be used to teach English to 5-11 year olds and get them sent over to the Kengalla Primary School, Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Tiru Thiruvilangam is the young man behind Scenery Chewer, an arts collective that organises events to raise money for local charities or causes.

Tiru said: ''This event was for a small school outside Kandy, Kengalla Primary School. I taught there for a few months about five years ago, and felt I should do something for them, as the school is really quite poor and underfunded.''
Performing at the event were acts including Laura Whitticase (Singer songwriter), then the poets Fassbinder and The Royal Holloway Poets. The last act was Phildel, who recently signed a major record deal with Warner. The DJ was DJ Jean Genie, who works at XFM.
Scenery Chewer will like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to the event, with a special mention to Oliver and the team at the Mango Lounge.
